The Pinkalicious

Croissant

Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey

Bacon

Sliced Apple

Your Choice of Melted Cheese

Pinkalicious Sauce (Cream Cheese Mixed With Cranberry Sauce)

Basically the coolest sandwich you could ever make with your Thanksgiving leftovers...unless you're one of those losers that doesn't like cranberry sauce.

The City Creek

Oven-fired Artisan Bread

Real Mozzarella

Fresh Basil

Sliced Tomatoes

Olive Oil + Balsamic Vinegar

S&P

This is the Caprese sandwich from Bocata, located in downtown Salt Lake City shopping center City Creek. I am a fan of Bocata because I love their logo and their sister store, Settebello. I have had this sandwich three times. Once with Greg at the City Creek grand opening, and twice with my FNDN (Forever Next Door Neighbor) Jenn. Jenn and I like to hike Ensign Peak, an easy hike situated between her home in Centerville and my home in American Fork. After our hike we are ravenous beasts that want good food, so we hit Bocata. Last time we also hit The Limited, where I haven't been in over a decade but was pleased to buy a black and cream horizontal striped cotton tee on sale for $17.90. The bread is what makes this sandwich. I had Caputo's version, which came on a lowly baguette, and it was chewy and made my mouth hurt. You will not regret Bocata's Caprese sandwich.

The Popover

Giant Asiago Popover, hollowed out

Brisket

Lettuce, Onion, Tomato

Oil & Vinegar

Swiss Cheese

Johnny's Apache Sauce

The Pop On Over Café on 10600 S is one of my favorite places to eat lunch. Johnny is a Harley-riding indian that used to cook for celebrities. He bottles his famous Apache Sauce so that you can take it home. It's fire in a jar, but when used sparingly on meat it really sends the sandwich over the top. I tried to make popovers at home in a muffin tin. They were like popover sliders. You can't appreciate a popover that is 6" tall with thick walls until you try a mediocre, homemade popover from a muffin tin. My popover is always accompanied by a 50¢ mini red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. I don't think there is a better $7 lunch out there.

The Dodo

Toasted Sourdough (good stuff with bumps on the bottom from the bread pan)

Shaved Turkey

Swiss

Dodo BBQ Sauce (dip lightly, it's got a kick)

It sounds simple enough, right? Then why have none of us ever thought of a BBQ turkey sandwich?!! I love eating at The Dodo in Sugarhouse because it means I am on a lunch date with Greg when he should be at work and I should be 20 miles south doing laundry. We always order the baked cream cheese appetizer. It's cream cheese marinated in soy sauce and breaded with toasted sesame seeds. Asian pears, granny smith apples and wheat crackers are dipped in the mound of cheese. So delicious.

The GRegg Sandwich

Toasted Sourdough English Muffin

Fried Egg (over hard for me & RE, over easy for Greg)

Sharp Cheddar

Sausage Patty

Hash Browns

Greg is the short-order cook around here. He cooks RE breakfast every day except Sunday (when he is at church meetings early on). Egg sandwiches are a luxury I enjoy only twice a month, but when I get them I take tiny bites and chew with my eyes closed to make them last. Holy Hannah I love these things.
